Set in 1916, Yorkshire, as the First World War claims most of its men, the local Choral Society must recruit young villagers and hire a mysterious new chorus master, Dr. Henry Guthrie (Ralph Fiennes), to keep music alive. Amid conscription and uncertainty, the community discovers that singing together may be the only way to preserve hope and unity.
